First bottle!

Quite the fashion plate, but warm counts!

Today was Sunday, so I could only spend the morning with Emma. We had a great day--Lena, my translator and guide, took pictures as I gave Emma her first bottle as her mom. This was much less traumatic for both of us than feeding her was yesterday. I have no pictures of that as the caregivers were too busy laughing at us to steady the camera! The babies eat something that looks like cream of wheat with chunks of bread--with a china bowl and large soup spoon. Apparently the idea is that they suck the food off of the side of the spoon. So much for the bibs I brought--we need towels! We also had some difficulty as she is used to right handed caregivers, and since they don't use highchairs, when I held her to feed her with my left hand, it was a disaster because she kept turning her head to the right. Needless to say, we were both covered! The babies also drink the milk from a cup during meals--no sippy cups here!
Since I could only visit in the morning, Lena and I went to the mall for the afternoon. Shopping is not as relaxing as it is at home! I had to buy some clothes for the baby--most of the ones I brought were too small. We walked home from the mall which was a quick 15minute walk. I think I could find it again when I venture out. I also needed to buy bread--the rolls that we bought were somehow filled with prunes--I told Lena I thought she just wanted to have a day off!
Any way--please understand that I am unable to figure out how to send regular email--so I am receiving all of your email but cannot respond (yet). Thank you so much for keeping me company! Will attempt more pictures....
