Day 10 of bonding

sign in the hotel
in Almaty--
lost in translation?

This is Lenin,
and my landmark
near my apartment
and the mall. There
are a lot of monuments
here--will take more
photos when it warms!

Today was day 10 of bonding. We had a great day, and the caregivers said that Zhanna cried for me all afternoon yesterday. Selfishly, I was ecstatic to hear that--some of the children have much difficulty bonding. Trust me Zhanna--I would have come if I could! Her current weight is 7250 grams, and her height is 65.5centimeters. I think that is about 14.5 pounds and about 32 inches. Those are extremely approximate conversions--if anyone can convert them accurately, let me know! I didn't pay attention to that part of math. See Dominic, math can be important some day!!
Update on Lena--she did not go skiing this weekend. Apparently when the weather officials predict a bad storm, like Friday, when the temperature dropped drastically and it was snowing hard, the government of the city of Karaganda closes all roads leading out of the city. This is to protect people, especially the young inexperienced drivers. She said she was sick, with a temperature, so the doctor came to see her. Yes, doctors still make housecalls here in Kazakhstan.
Will take more photos of Zhanna tomorrow, but will see if I can attach an "old" one from a couple of days ago. Who knew a digital camera could eat batteries like that? Don't worry, I have now replaced them. Will write more tomorrow--Valentines Day--and our first holiday together. She will be wearing her first Valentine gift from a boy--thanks again Luke and Bennett!

Hey Chris,
I found onlineconversions.com and it says that Zhanna's metric height and weight convert to 15.98 pounds and 25.79 inches. You were pretty close, must be all your nursing background...
I am so excited that Zhanna has bonded with you, and so quickly! That is one of the most important steps in adoption.
Love, Lynn

Do you know any background about Zhanna, where she was born, etc? Are you rooting for the Kazakhstanies in the Olympics? Are you going to go to a Kokpar game? Hope you're having fun! Can't wait to see more pictures,
Love,
Lynn
